Confirmation is part of the product
A customer should know that the order or project request was received, what happens next and where to ask for help. Silence after payment or submission creates avoidable anxiety.
Set the next expectation
For products, explain fulfilment and delivery. For services, explain scope, timeline and the next input required from the customer. Clear expectations reduce support friction.
Follow up when it is useful
A follow-up should help the customer succeed, not simply ask them to buy again. Tips, setup guidance, a relevant article or a quick check-in can create more value.
Ask for feedback at the right moment
Feedback is most useful after the customer has had enough time to experience the product or service. Keep the request short and make it easy to answer.
Give customers a place to return
Accounts, order history, articles and community discussions can create natural return paths even when the customer is not ready to purchase again.
